Faced with a challenge of Implementing Industry 4.0 solution for a Greenfield plant with highly Automated Production lines to make a comprehensive portfolio of advanced power semiconductor components, Littelfuse partnered with Cantier to architect a modern Manufacturing Execution Solution that is configurable and scalable to meet their current and future needs.

Littelfuse implemented the Cantier MES 4.0 solution in 4 Sections across 50+ machines that needed to be connected for real time data collection. The plant produces power modules, high-temperature/low-loss discretes, medium- and high-power thyristors, fast recovery diodes and rectifiers, industrial IGBTs, MOSFETs, driver and control ICs, and optical and solid-state relays, low-power thyristors, ignition IGBTs, and silicon carbide Schottky diodes and MOSFETs.

Implementation of Cantier MES 4.0 provided Littelfuse the opportunity realized quick and sustainable improvements in MTTR, MTBF & OEE apart from achieving overall Productivity gain.

With Cantier MES 4.0 solution in place, Littlefuse successfully connected machines to provide the live data feed to MES modules which facilitated real time monitoring of all the process parameters to reduce waste and scrap. In addition, data was collected automatically from the shop floor equipment and devices for real time Statistical Process Control to prepare Out-of-Control Action Plans and shut down equipment for out-of-spec or out-of-control situations.

Cantier MES maintains a centralized Recipe Library across the factory to store and transact the recipes securely. With the help of Cantier SPC, Recipe parameters vs Output parameters could be monitored in real-time or by history and provide the trend report. When there is a downward trend, the RMS alerts the users to look at the recipe values for adjustments. It monitors and validate recipe for a specific lot; correlates Input/Output process parameters and based this prevents Rejects & Downtime.
