Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)
IIoT is part of a larger concept known as Internet of Things (IoT). The IoT is a network of intelligent computers, devices, and objects that collects and share huge amounts of data. The collected data is then sent to a central cloud-based service where it is aggregated with the other data and then shared with end users.
In the past, data collections were made through an application that is connected directly to the equipment. This made it difficult to scale and is not user-friendly. However, IIoT is an end-to-end solution that combines MQTT data-transfer protocol with the data collection module of Cantier MES where by leveraging the MQTT protocol’s publish-and-subscribe methodologies, you only see the data that you need the most.
What is MQTT?
Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT) is a lightweight, bidirectional, stateful, and secured protocol, and a preferred data-transfer protocol for the IIoT. Through MQTT, information is efficiently distributed, it dramatically reduces the network bandwidth usage and increases scalability.
Benefits
Improves connectivity, efficiency, and scalability
Decreases cost and saves time for industrial organizations
Companies are already benefiting from IIoT through cost savings due to predictive maintenance, secured development, and other operational efficiencies
IoT networks of intelligent devices allow industrial organizations to break open data silos and connect all their contacts, data, and processes from the factory floor to the executive offices
IIoT data proves a full and accurate view of how their enterprise is doing that helps business leaders make the best decisions
