Prabakar Selvam, Cantier’s President and CEO, is included on the CIO Views’s List of 10 Best Entrepreneurs with an Inspiring Story 2020. His inclusion comes as Cantier is keeping an eye for the latest trends on smart manufacturing with the company continuously upgrading its manufacturing execution systems into MES 4.0.

In an interview, Selvam has mentioned the incorporation of current technologies such as Cloud, AI, ML (Machine Learning), and the IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) on their MES 4.0. He added that it aims to ease businesses in setting up a SMART factory.

Smart manufacturing designs, deploys, connects, and manages enterprise manufacturing operations and systems. This is to enable proactive management of the manufacturing enterprise through informed, prompt, and in-depth decisions.

Cantier MES 4.0 has shown improvement in the manufacturing shop-floor’s traceability, visibility, quality, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). The said innovation enables the real-time flow of accurate information towards data-driven decisions. Some of its key modules are Product Configuration, Factory Planning, WIP, Equipment Maintenance, SPC, Data Collection, Document Control (DCC), Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Intelligence, and IIoT.

For more than a decade, Cantier has continuously worked with various names in the following industries: semiconductor, electronics, automotive, aerospace, metal precision and fabrication, food, sugar and ethanol, and modular construction industries.

With their transition to MES 4.0, Selvam has recognized SMART manufacturing (Industry 4.0) features as adding factor on their product, describing the growth rate as phenomenal. Since 2017, their rate increase is consistent with 200%, and they are expecting the same growth percentage this year.

For the next five years, Cantier envisions their expansion of their business activities through Europe, South Africa, the USA, and Canada. Selvam clarified, however, that they are already operating globally, but the company is currently working on their clients’ APAC sites.
